Welcome! Happy to have you here. You’ve found my blog, which means you (obviously) have good taste :) Haha!

A little bit about me… I am a Chicago girl at heart, but just can’t seem to shake Colorado. It’s become my home. I’m as happy to be in a tent in the woods, as I am shopping at Anthropologie. It’s all about balance.

When I’m not traveling, I live with my husband, dog and cat in the Platt Park area of Denver.

Coming from a newspaper background, I love telling your story through photography. Whether it’s a wedding, a portrait session or boudoir photography, I love showcasing the emotion, small moments and the little details. Interested? Let’s chat.

Erin and Andrew’s Della Terra wedding

May 14th, 2012

Despite the fact that Erin and Andrew are separated by almost 7,000 miles, living on 2 different continents (him in China, her in Washington, D.C.), the strength of their relationship and love is clearly evident. Surrounded by friends and family from all over the world (as far as Hong Kong!), they were married at the [...]

Despite the fact that Erin and Andrew are separated by almost 7,000 miles, living on 2 different continents (him in China, her in Washington, D.C.), the strength of their relationship and love is clearly evident. Surrounded by friends and family from all over the world (as far as Hong Kong!), they were married at the Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park on a perfect spring day.

A bevy of speeches, a bride dancing like Jagger (the real Mick, not the Maroon 5 song) and lots of mint juleps and margaritas followed. Clearly, they know how to throw a party.

Big thanks to Gwen Shoemaker for shooting with me. Congrats Erin and Andrew – it was a blast spending the day with you :) Hope your feet are in the sand and a cocktail is in your hand while you’re enjoying Fiji!

Denver portraits on film

May 3rd, 2012

I’ve bought/inherited/taken from my dad a few film cameras over the past few months. I’ve been bringing them on shoots, and using them more. You may recognize one of the shoots from a past post. Plus my ever-patient husband and dog are willing to be my models during sunset… Film geeks: These were taken on [...]

Brooke and Brandon’s Connecticut wedding

Brooke and Brandon are stellar individuals, and now, as a team, they will be unstoppable. They love life, and make sure to share that love with their family and friends. I photographed Brooke’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, so it was a joy to work with their family again.

Brooke and Brandon had a church wedding with a lot of personal touches, including an amazing rendition of  “Amazing Grace” sung by two friends. I mean, a tear-inducing version. Wow.

The reception was at The Patterson Club where people sweated and danced the night away to a live band, West Side Review, who rocked it. It’s really wonderful to witness a room of 175 people who genuinely love and care for the bride and groom.

Thanks to Nikki Nicole Photography for all your help!

NYC

April 16th, 2012

Headed to NYC to shoot a wedding in Connecticut this past weekend. Man, that city is eye candy. I just started using Instagram (KaraPearsonFoto if you want to follow), so I just walked around with my phone, taking pictures. I even headed to Times Square – hadn’t been there since I was 13. Now that [...]
