Lifestyle Newborn Portraits

That little yawn and those little hands! June was born to two great parents who know one of the secrets to parenting is not letting things stress you out too much. Babies, especially new ones, can be so stressful. Are they eating enough, sleeping enough, warm enough? As parents, you want to provide for that little one immediately.

Lifestyle newborn portraits capture all that – the love that you have, the way you hold them protectively, the ease that you kiss them. I just love photographing those dream-like first days of babyhood.

The number of times I have heard parents say “I’ve grown to love these newborn photos so much more the older my baby gets.”

It is so true. I was looking at a portrait of my son taken when he was 3 years old, and he’s 5 1/2 now. That portrait, just 2 1/2 years old, feels like a lifetime ago.

Imagine how I feel about his newborn portraits. I am so thankful for them, despite the extra pounds I carried, the double chins we had as new parents, the bags under our eyes. That was then, this is now. Now I just adore them. I don’t nitpick myself. I just remember the days of being a new mom and the excitement, the tiredness and the hours spent gazing at this new creation.

The majority of parents decide to make an album of baby’s first year, which includes photographs from newborn, 6 months and a year. What a gift to be able to give yourself, and your child. My children love looking back at those albums. They can’t believe they were so small and that dad could carry them with one arm.

As a parent, you learn quickly that time is fleeting. I feel so grateful to capture it.
