Platt Park Family Portraits
When I walked in to meet this family at their home in Platt Park for family portraits, the two boys watched me with curious eyes. They were not sure what to think of me. That happens more often than not. Most children take some time to warm up, but once they do – we become fast friends.
Having three children of my own helps. I know what tv shows they might be in to, what books they’re reading or what Disney movie hero they pretend to be.
Meeting At Home
This is also why I always suggest we at least start our session at our home. When kids meet me (a stranger) on their turf, then they seem to trust me quicker, which means I can start capturing their true selves. They aren’t nestling their head in between dad’s legs. It can be cute for a few images, but not for the whole hour.
Often we start at the house, and then can venture outside (weather permitting) to a nearby park or backyard. Even in the dead of winter, we always seem to be able to brave the cold for 5-10 minutes.
My House Is A Mess
But my house is messy/dark/not perfectly Pinterest decorated/(insert other concern here)! Not to worry! I have never arrived at a house and canceled a session because of any of those reasons. In fact, I’ve never canceled a session once I’ve gotten there ever. Your house is full of memories that I want to capture for you at this time of your life.
Trust me, everyone with at least one small child has a messy house. I get it. It would be the pot calling the kettle black if I judged you.Ready to connect?
