Sunrise Amphitheater Wedding Ceremony and The St. Vrain Wedding Reception
Katie and Brian couldn’t have asked for a better day for their wedding. It was full of sunshine, love and laughter. Their happiness and laid-back attitudes are infectious. They really seemed to soak in the day, and never got anxious about the schedule or what should happen next. They spent time with friends and family, and really enjoyed themselves.
Katie and Brian had their wedding outside at Boulder’s Sunrise Amphitheater , which is a unique spot. You drive a few miles to the top of Flagstaff, you turn off and drive a short distance more. Then all of a sudden you happen upon this beautiful venue with views for days. Birds and vultures were soaring overhead as Katie and Brian’s ceremony went on and then came back for a finale during the kiss. It was a pretty sight. The sun peeked in and out from behind the clouds which made for a perfect temperature on an August afternoon.
We made our way to downtown Longmont to a newer wedding venue called The St. Vrain. It has an industrial vibe with white walls and fun little nooks and rooms. Guests really had fun discovering it during cocktail hour. Katie changed into a second dress, and we made some fun portraits using The St. Vrain’s green settee. They then entered their reception and immediately went into their first dance. I love when couples have their first dance right away; it really sets a party tone for the reception.
A sweet video which incorporated many of the wedding guests, and those who couldn’t make it, played as everyone shared laughter and a few tears. It was really creative.
I had so much fun photographing Katie, Brian and all their friends and family. They couldn’t have been more gracious. Big thanks as usual to Laura Anderson.
